Local 5097 bargaining update, June 4

MEMBERS OF HPAE LOCAL 5097 (HARBORAGE) TELL THEIR STORIES STAFFING MATTERS!

Version en español

Our HPAE Local 5097 Bargaining Committee held our fourth bargaining session with Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) on Monday, fighting for quality, safety, and fairness at the Harborage.

STAFFING: Our committee presented our first staffing proposals for CNAs

  • Several members spoke directly to administration about the staffing shortage at our facility. They told administration the benefits of staffing ratios and the risks of current policies.
  • Our team proposed the following ratios for CNAs:
    • 3:1 on Day shift
    • 4:1 on Evening shift
    • 5:1 on Night shift

Management continues responding slowly to proposals and providing unsatisfactory answers about their own proposals. Nevertheless, we are happy to report some progress.

Labor-Management Committee WIN!
We have reached a tentative agreement (subject to ratification of the entire agreement) on the frequency of The Labor-Management Committee meetings. The committee will now convene every other month instead of once a quarter, allowing us to hold management more accountable.

Button Day: Friday kicked off our Button campaign! HPAE members across the state wore buttons. Continue to wear your buttons to show management our unity and strength!

Support your union and bargaining team by signing the petition!

The bargaining session will be on June 6th at the Holiday Inn in Secaucus.
