Local 5135 contract update, June 7

On Thursday, June 7th, we had our fourth negotiations session with Rutgers/UCHC. Management responded to the proposals we had presented at our last session on May 16th which included a staffing proposal, a proposal to ban mandatory overtime, and a proposal to create an anti-workplace bullying article in the contract. Management also presented us with a package of proposals on FMLA, Bereavement Leave and Sick Leave.

Our committee spent time working on proposals for “Bargaining for the Common Good” which we intend to present to Management at future sessions.

Our next negotiations sessions are scheduled for July 12th, August 14th, and August 22nd.

HPAE continues to work in solidarity with the other Unions at Rutgers to demand transparency and accountability from Rutgers and RWJ Barnabas as well as protection for workers and patients as Rutgers and RWJ Barnabas continue with plans to affiliate.
