Local 5103 Member Alert, September 20
After learning about our overwhelming vote to authorize our bargaining committee to call for an action up to and including a strike, management reached out to us to schedule bargaining dates on October 1st, 2nd and 3rd. After careful consideration, our committee decided to hold negotiations on those dates.
We are doing this to give management ONE LAST CHANCE to come to their senses and take their cuts off the table. For now, we plan to continue to work past the September 30th contract expiration, and other coalition locals around the country will be doing the same thing. We will maintain the ability to give management a 10 day strike notice.
Between now and then, it’s critical that we show management our power by taking part in some key actions:
- We want to PACK THE ROOM for the start of negotiations at 10 am on October 1st. We will be providing food and HPAE tee-shirts for you all to wear. Please reach out to one of your bargaining committee members and let them know that you will be able to attend.
- Between now and then, we will be asking you all to post pictures on Facebook of you holding signs that say “We Support our Bargaining Committee.” We will present the pictures on the first day of negotiations.
We will win this fight because of the commitment of all of you. Let’s take the next 10 days to show management that we are serious about winning a fair contract.
