Victory at Sunrise House!, Virtua and PMC Contracts Ratified…and Other HPAE News

Contract Agreement Reached at Sunrise House

The Local 5629 Negotiations Committee reached a settlement last night for a first contract with management of Sunrise House, a substance abuse treatment center owned by the for-profit company American Addiction Centers (AAC) and located in Lafayette, NJ. The agreement includes major gains in wages, staffing, security, and holiday pay. A ratification vote for Local 5629 members is set for tomorrow afternoon.

Virtua Nurses Ratify New 3 Year Contract

Local 5105 RNs voted overwhelmingly on Tuesday to ratify a new three-year contract agreement with administration at Virtua Health. The contract makes important gains in improving patient safety and workplace conditions at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly, Virtua Community Services and Virtua’s Center for Women.

Contract Agreement Ratified by Palisades Members

All four HPAE bargaining units at Palisades Medical Center overwhelmingly voted to ratify a 1 year contract agreement with Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) which provides for a 2.25% wage increase and sets up a process for joint bargaining with other HPAE locals in the HMH system.

“What Next for Healthcare?” Conference in New Brunswick Tomorrow

HPAE has co-sponsored and exciting conference, “What Next for Healthcare” on Friday, June 16, 2017, from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm, at the Rutgers Labor Education Center in New Brunswick. HPAE President Ann Twomey, will be part of a panel of labor leaders to discuss the movement for affordable care in New Jersey. We encourage all HPAE members to attend.
