Cowardly King Christie Vetoes Women's Health Funding Restoration

Statement of NJDSC Chairman John Wisniewski on Governor Christie's veto of the Women's Health Funding Restoration Bill:

" Today, on a late Friday, summer afternoon, Coward King Christie let down the women of New Jersey to further appeal to his national right wing base by vetoing the Women's Health Funding restoration bill. This bill passed with bi-partisan support in both Houses.

"As a result of the Governor's veto of family care and womens health care funding throughout New Jersey nurses and health care workers will be unwilling witnesses to women and families who can no longer get proper health screenings and preventive care and will turn up at our emergency rooms---too late.

As a result of this veto, the health and lives of our patients will suffer.

OLIVER & CRYAN ASSIGN PROPERTY TAX REFORM IDEAS TO ASSEMBLY DEMOCRATS FOR SUMMER REVIEW

(TRENTON) - Assembly Speaker Sheila Y. Oliver and Assembly Majority Leader Joseph Cryan on Monday announced they've assigned nearly three dozen property tax reform ideas to 12 Assembly Democrats who will review the concepts over the summer in preparation for legislative action in the fall.

The Assembly Democrats were asked by Oliver and Cryan to analyze each property tax reform concept and convene public hearings, at their discretion, to gather input from residents and experts. Of the 12 Democrats, 11 are committee chairpersons.

HPAE Takes Position on Tax and Spending ‘Caps’

This year’s budget contains more than $800 million in cuts to education and $450 million in municipal aid. In addition, support for women’s health services and clinics was eliminated and family care subsidies for health coverage drastically cut – though the NJ Senate and Assembly attempted to restore these funds.
