On July 1st, UMDNJ ceased to exist and UMDNJ’s staff became part of a newly-independent University Hospital, Rutgers University, or Rowan University. As staff have changed employers, HPAE continues to be an active advocate for its members and the community.
Last week, an HPAE representative attended the first meeting of the Community Oversight Board (COB) of University Hospital in Newark. The COB’s mission is to ensure that University Hospital continues to provide quality services to the community.
On Tuesday night, HPAE participated in a labor-management meeting involving all of the labor unions at Rutgers (who represent, in total, 25,000 employees) and Rutgers’ administration. The Labor-Management committee is reviewing all proposed reorganization plans and their impact on personnel and labor relations issues.
