Rutgers Contract Negotiations Underway

Our HPAE Local 5094 bargaining committee is meeting with Rutgers administration this morning in New Brunswick. This is our first official bargaining session with the University since the dissolution of UMDNJ and we are looking forward to productive negotiations.

Earlier this year, HPAE members completed over 1,000 surveys at Rutgers indicating our priorities for a new contract. Top of the list are job security, fair wages and parity including tuition remission and cost of parking.

The committee will be submitting our initial proposals. We are working in coalition with our HPAE sister unions at the University and the broader Coalition of Rutgers Unions to coordinate our contract campaigns and win the best contract possible.

Our next session with Rutgers is scheduled for September 14. We will discuss bargaining priorities, proposals and membership mobilization activities at upcoming membership meetings.

Negotiations at University Hospital are scheduled to start on September 3rd. A Labor Management meeting is scheduled at Rowan’s School of Osteopathic Medicine on August 19th and we are trying to schedule our first date there for negotiations.
