Our Negotiating Committee met with management again on Wednesday, May 25th for one of the most productive sessions thus far. We were able to reach tentative agreements on several minor proposals however the progress came with the discussions related to the various issues that are important to our members such as job security, union rights, discipline/grievance and staffing. Despite the fact that we did not discuss economics in detail during this session, HPAE remains committed to ensuring an agreement that includes step increases as well as retroactive pay to the expiration date of September 30, 2014.
Although progress has been made, management continues to seek the following concessions:
- Reduce FMLA rights
- Random drug testing
- Criminal background checks
An important proposal has been made by management that would allow .9 employees to receive pro-rated full-time benefits however we would like for those affected members to complete a survey prior to the negotiating committee responding to management. As a result, there will be an important membership meeting to provide a detailed update on the status of negotiations. We encourage everyone to make an effort to attend this meeting, details are as follows:
Thursday, June 2nd
12p-2p & 6p-8p
H-Level Conference Rm. 349
