Local 5004 Continuing Education Day a Success

On Wednesday, October 19, over 50 Local 5004 members attended a Continuing Education Day on “Legal Hot Topics for Nurses” at Maggiano’s Italian Restaurant in Hackensack, NJ. The speaker was Kathleen M. Gialanella, BSN, JD, LLM.

Gialenella covered some very important legal issues in nursing, including delegation, nurse practice issues, the legal implications of practicing without adequate training/education, and legal issues regarding electronic health records.

The Local 5004 CE Day is just one of a series of membership activities and events which local officers have organized to build a strong union and to make our local relevant to the membership. One of the benefits of HPAE membership is the opportunity to attend CE events, free of charge. HPAE is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the New Jersey State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission On Accreditation.
