Local 5142 Member Alert: HPAE and Senator Stephen Sweeney Discuss Protecting Services at Salem Hospital

On Monday, June 11th, your local President Pam Greenthomas, HPAE President Ann Twomey and HPAE staff members attended a meeting with NJ Senate President Stephen Sweeney. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss ways to make sure that the hospital not just survives, but returns to providing top notch care for our patients and our community. As a union we will continue to monitor the sale of the hospital and send a message to NJ regulators that any sale must include protections for our patients and the health professionals who are committed to preserving healthcare services in Salem County.

On the local level, we are putting together a staffing committee that will give us a voice in improving staffing levels at our hospital. There will be a representative from each unit and shift on this committee. Please continue to fill out safe staffing forms so that we have the documentation we need when we do meet with hospital administrators. Together, we can push Salem Hospital to improve staffing.

Finally, our bargaining session scheduled for June 14th was canceled. We’ll let you know when we have a new date.

Please contact a member of your LEB to find out how to get involved with your Union. United We Stand!
