Local 5030 Update – October 3: Stay Strong! Stay United!

In recent weeks, members have spoken out in a variety of ways for safe staffing and a fair contract. We held an informational picket last Thursday and released a powerful staffing video to the public.

Q: Is It Working?

A: Yes! So far we have fought back on management’s most appalling takebacks and insulting proposals. None of the progress we’ve made would be possible without the extraordinary dedication & fight our members have demonstrated throughout this campaign!

Q: Why Isn’t Our Contract Settled Yet?

A: Despite earning multimillion-dollar profits, HMH continues to ask our members for give-backs. Whether it’s maintaining our current paid time off, the right to bargain over health insurance, or the need for safe staffing, we cannot allow Hackensack Meridian to force us backwards. We must continue to demand the kind of improvements to our contract that we know HMH can afford to make.

Q: What Can I Do?

A: Keep wearing your buttons & patient assignment stickers. Come to negotiations. Stay connected through social media & your contract action team. Keep speaking out!

The next bargaining sessions are scheduled for October 22nd and 23rd.

Our bargaining committee continues to meet this week to discuss our best options going forward.

HPAE and Hackensack Meridian are in a labor dispute.
