Tentative Agreement Reached! (membership meetings listed here)
Your HPAE Local 5094 bargaining team has reached a tentative agreement with Rutgers management for a new contract covering Professional Staff. After a long struggle and membership action, we protected the standards we’ve worked long to achieve and made a number of significant improvements. Some highlights of the agreement include:
- Four year contract – expires June 30, 2022
- Wage increases retroactive to July 1, 2018 and again July 1st of each Fiscal Year
- Two step increases with lump sum payments to those on the top step.
- Greater increases for lower salaries – up to 13.1% – better than the pattern for most members
- Additional sick days and bereavement days.
- Improved seniority provisions and layoff rights
- A new Vision Care benefit
- Expansion of tuition remission at Rutgers to staff in addition to dependents
- Commitment to joint union negotiations over reducing health care costs and the effects of the RWJBarnabas affiliation
Members will have the opportunity to vote to ratify the new contract. Sign up for membership HERE. We’ve scheduled a series of informational meetings on each of the main RBHS campuses to review the terms of the new contract and answer any questions you have before the vote. A full summary of the agreement will be available at the membership meetings and posted on our website next week. We are also scheduling a “tele-town hall” conference call for members who do not work on one of the main RBHS campuses.
Membership Meetings and Contract Review
Voting will be conducted by the American Arbitration Association. Voting will be by phone and internet. Members will be mailed a sample ballot and a unique pin. More details forthcoming.
