Registered Nurses At Robert Wood Johnson Visiting Nurses To Vote on Joining a Union Of Health Professionals
(New Brunswick, NJ) – On Wednesday, June 26th, a clear majority of Registered Nurses who provide home health care services at Robert Wood Johnson Visiting Nurses Inc. filed with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) for a union election to organize their union with Health Professionals and Allied Employees/AFT (HPAE).
HPAE represents 13,000 nurses, health professionals and workers across New Jersey – including 130 nurses of the VNA Health Group of NJ and VNA of Englewood.
“Providing care to patients in their home environment offers patients ongoing treatment after a recent hospitalization or for chronic medical conditions,” said Debbie White, RN and President. “Nurses at Robert Wood Johnson Visiting Nurses Inc. are standing together to form their union – because, as caregivers, their voices should positively influence how to deliver safe and effective care for patients.”
An election agreement has been signed between both parties and authorizes the NLRB, a federal agency to supervise the union election. The nurses will be voting on Tuesday, July 30th and Thursday, August 1st. Voting will take place between; 7am to 10am, and 3pm to 7pm, on both days. The vote count will take place immediately following the close of the second voting session on August 1st.
