HMH is set to increase costs on 2020 Health Care Plans

The Union leadership at Palisades Medical Center, Harborage, Jersey Shore University Medical Center and Southern Ocean Medical Center were notified that Hackensack Meridian Health is planning to increase costs on the Health Care Plans at all their facilities.

This is what we know so far:

  • Premiums will be increased by 8%.  The share of the premium will not change.
  • Deductibles on the premium and premium plus plans will double.
  • Deductibles for the dental PPO will double.
  • No improvements in the overall coverage of the plans.

These changes will increase our benefit costs while wages stay stagnant.

The Union presidents have requested information so that we may understand the new costs and bargain over the effects or file a grievance if necessary.  We have also asked for an extension on the open enrollment period while we gather information and engage in discussions with HMH.

Stay tuned and please notify your Local Union of concerns at Local5058@HPAE.org.

In solidarity,

Adam Witt, President, Local 5058 Jersey Shore University Medical Center

Mickie Miquiabas, President, Local 5030 Palisades Medical Center

Anna Pona, President, Local 5138 Southern Ocean Medical Center

Sandra White, President, Local 5097 Harborage
