WARN notice sent to Christ Hospital HPAE members

Your employer, CarePoint Health Christ Hospital will be sending you a “WARN Notice” in the mail. You may have already received it.

This is a legal requirement for CarePoint to conform to the WARN Act (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act), a federal labor law that states that any employer with 100 or more employees must provide a 60 calendar-day advance notification of possible plant closings and mass layoffs of employees.

To be clear, we do not anticipate employees being laid off and having to be re-hired, but our Union will be in contact with CarePoint Health and RWJ Barnabas to clarify any transition issues and to protect your seniority and rights under the union contract.

Our understanding is that when the sale is complete, CarePoint Health Christ Hospital will not be the legal employer, and RWJ Barnabas take control.

However, our union contract contains a successorship clause, which states that the entity that takes over from CarePoint Health will then assume the union contract in full. We will fight to enforce this clause if RWJ Barnabas does not honor it.

We will be in contact with any details as soon as we hear them.

In solidarity,

Nicole Mankowski, RN
