Local 5142 Bargaining Update and March 5th Voting Meeting
Everyone did a fantastic job during button week and our action definitely put pressure on the Hospital. But while management is slowly starting to respond to our proposals, it’s clear they are trying to drag out the process while continuing to violate our contract. Because of this, at our next session on March 4th, we will have a federal mediator in attendance. Federal mediators are neutral third parties that work with our Union and the hospital to aid in the bargaining process. They do not have to power to force either party to accept or reject proposals, but they can make suggestions about ways to make progress in bargaining.
However, the most important thing we need to do to settle this contract is to continue to escalate our activities in the hospital, which is why we need you at a critical meeting next Thursday. We will be voting about important next steps as we approach the end of the bargaining process at this meeting, so it’s critical that everyone attend.
