April 21, 2020 negotiations update

Today was the first day of negotiations:

First time doing remotely.
We presented issues with PPE, PTO, Payroll, Safety, and Retaliation.
Our stance is the hospital and HMH have not adequately protected us
and addressed issues both pre-Covid and during this crisis. We
discussed the package of our proposals.
Proposed new N95s each shift effective immediately.
Proposed hero pay of $20/hr on all hours worked retroactive to March.

Management:

Management’s lawyer was “offended” by our claims of issues and stated
HMH has invested in excellent patient care and service to make sure
“the right person, is at the right place, at the right time.”
Stands by their N95 policy as is, despite not fit testing, not
providing us with manufacturers of KN95s, and not providing on all
units.

FYI, leggit N95s:

How to spot a bogus N95:

No response to hero pay.
No proposals.
Wouldn’t commit to adding dates for the cancelled days.
Most insultingly, no clinical leadership from JSUMC were present
despite the CNO of Southern Ocean Medical Center attending. Otherwise
all lawyers and HR.

That was day one. Next days are 4/27 and 4/28. Hopefully more
commitment to actually getting something done by HMH.
