Medical Center response to our last robocall, April 8

Please see below a reply from the Medical Center to our last robocall.

Your voicemail to HPAE members was forwarded to me. In your message, you advised employees to ignore the new schedule posted on April 6. 2020 and report for their regular shift if they do not want to “volunteer” for the for their assigned shift as per the schedule posted on April 6, 2020. As I discussed with Corrado earlier this afternoon, this is irresponsible guidance for you to be providing to your members.

Please be advised that your members do not have the right to ignore our scheduling requirements. Instead, consistent with the longstanding premise of “work first, grieve later” set forth in countless arbitration decisions, the union’s recourse is to file a grievance if the union believes that the schedule posted on April 6, 2020 violates our CBA. Please be further advised that employees who do not comply with the April 6, 2020 schedule will not be permitted to work their regular shift, will not be paid for the time not worked and will be subject to discipline.
