Local 5030 Member Alert: Agreement Reached with HMH on Raises

We want to thank everyone that signed the petition, postcards and supported your local leaders. It is great to see members getting involved in their union and staying informed.

We meet with Hackensack Meridian Health again yesterday to discuss their compensation package for our members. HPAE made it clear that HMH needed to reward and recognized our exemplary service during the pandemic and that Hackensack remain competitive in the local labor market and help to retain staff. The Union agreed to accept the 3% raise, effective April 17, which will take the place of your 2% which was set for July 1, so this raise is 2 ½ months earlier, along with labor market rate adjustments for OR techs and Respiratory therapist, new hire RN scale which will also apply to current RNs if a future step increase is negotiated. We will continue to meet and discuss with regards to retention bonus for all during our monthly joint Labor/Management/Staffing meetings. Any member is allowed to attend these meetings to discuss their concerns about short staffing, please just let of the local leaders know.

We were able to push back on HMH with regards to working a holiday and the calculation of that holiday counting toward the 40 hours when getting time and one-half after 40 hours. This practice will remain in effect until December 31, 2023.

HMH also agreed to pay 75% of the amount owed from July 2019 until present on an arbitration filed on members behalf with regards to overtime when a holiday was worked within that period. This would amount to upwards of $75,000 in back pay for hundreds of members.
