Local 5185 February Union Update

Some Updates from Your Union Officers:
Your Union Officers are BMC employees who you’ve elected to fight for you and your coworkers.

1) Negotiations – The first bargaining session will be February 15. The agenda is to discuss the big picture with the Hudson Health partnership, CarePoint’s financial state, etc

2) Congratulations to Nathaniel Mateo on being elected to Local 5185 Executive Board

3) The Next Union Meeting will be March 4th at Post 19 – We’ll be discussing our initial proposals and strategy

4) March with us! Winning a great contract means showing management we’re strong and united. Our first demonstration will be marching together in the Bayonne St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The Parade Starts March 17th at 12:30 on the corner of Broadway and Fifth

5) A grievance has been filed about supply shortages. In the meantime, continue to request supplies, in writing, as early as possible, from your supervisor. If you don’t get a response, take it directly to Trina (DON) in writing

Labor-Management Committee
The Labor-Management Committee (LMC) is a monthly meeting where your Union Officers bring your concerns to management.

Some Updates from the January LMC Meeting:

1) Women’s Center – Management has agreed to get ACH recertification by 2/22.

2) Cardiology – The Hospital can’t afford isotopes at this time. They are working to find another vendor. Anyone affected by this can volunteer to make up their hours in an area they are qualified. Management has committed that no one will lose hours. If you have any questions, contact an officer

3) Uniforms – Management will work with the vendor to make sure uniforms are better pressed/ironed. Still waiting on all EVS uniforms to arrive.

4) Bonuses – Continue to write “Bonus” by your name in the availability book. Ask your manager to get your department approved for bonus shifts AND bonus contracts if you aren’t already.
