Local 5118 Negotiations Update, April 3

April 3 Negotiations Update:

We reached three tentative agreements (TA’s) today.

  • Article 5.6 Baylor Nurse Definition,
  • Article 5.7 Float Nurse, and
  • Article 23.8 Professional Ladder.

We will post them after they are signed by both parties.

Today, we spent the time going through each piece of our Staffing Proposals and the need to have a “joint” Violence Prevention Committee. Having this committee be recognized as a joint committee gives us more ability to push our agenda.

Cooper told us that they will present their staffing proposal on April 17.

Negotiations is a long grueling process. We are working through our non-economic proposals first, which is the typical progression in negotiations. April 17 will be interesting when Cooper presents their staffing proposal. They rejected our staffing proposal.

We made our initial wage proposal on February 28. Cooper presented their counter wage proposal on March 13. We rejected their proposal and they rejected our proposal. They also rejected our Retention proposal.

MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS. APRIL 10. Double Tree by Hilton. There will be four meetings – 8am, 1pm, 5:30pm and 8:00pm. The meetings will be in person. The 8:00pm meeting will be a hybrid meeting which includes being able to join the meeting via Zoom.

The meetings will include a discussion about our Contract Community Campaign presented by a HPAE representative, the importance of continued member participation and what is means to go on strike. Please make every effort to attend one of these meetings.

In Solidarity –
