Local 5185 Important Union Update, September 13, 2024
A lot has happened over the last two days – your Union officers have been working tirelessly to get the facts and make sure everyone’s rights and jobs are protected.
Here is what we know:
- CarePoint is exploring Sale/Transfer to Hudson Regional Hospital, Layoffs, and/or Bankruptcy. But has not officially decided. There is currently no bankruptcy filing and no layoff list.
- The WARN Notices you will receive allow management to go forward with Layoffs in 60 days, but don’t mean Layoffs HAVE to happen. There are other boxes that need to be checked first.
- The legal process to transfer BMC to HRH has been started, but is not finished.
- Your contract has protections for Layoffs, Sale, and Bankruptcy. The Layoff language has been changed so that LPNs now have the same protections as everyone else.
- Whichever way CarePoint goes, we will be at every step of the process to protect union jobs.
- This week, your union presidents met with the Department of Health to get more information and make the case to protect union jobs.
- Stay up to date, because we’ll need to stick together and show up together to protect our jobs and our hospital.
In Solidarity,
HPAE Local 5185 Executive Board
