Local 5131 March 2025 Member Update
The 2025 negotiations survey was a huge success. Thank you everyone for filling it out and sharing your thoughts and ideas. Your negotiations team reviewed each and every one to help us prepare. We wanted to share some of the results with you. Three issues were identified as very important by almost everyone. They are as follows: 1. Safe staffing 96%, 2. competitive raises 94%, and 3. Health and safety 90%. The members have spoken and your negotiating team will be focusing on making these top issues our priority.
Another concerning issue brought up in our survey was 68% of you said you were considering leaving the bedside. We understand everyone is feeling unsupported and unappreciated by management as evidenced by 73% of members who do not think Inspira takes their concerns seriously regarding safe staffing. There is a lot of work to be done to retain and recruit nurses in our network.
Our current way of doing things is broken and needs to be fixed. Respect is earned and management needs to start to really listen to the front line workers at the bedside to help make our patients safer during their stay at Inspira. There is more to patient care than a pretty room.
Our patients deserve the best experience possible. We can accomplish this with safe staffing ratios that ensure great care; competitive wages that retain staff and attract new staff to work in our health system; and a focus on the overall health and safety of Inspira that keeps violence out of our workplace. As our negotiations quickly approach, keep an eye out for updates. Let’s work together to make this year our best contract yet.
Together we can accomplish great things, together we can be one loud unstoppable voice.
