Local 5138 Negotiation Update, April 8, 2025
We have been in negotiations with HMH for 10 sessions. The only wage proposal we have received to date from HMH is an up to 1% merit increase on the performance eval scale, (1%!!) which is completely unacceptable.
As frontline caregivers, we show up every day for our patients—now it’s time to show up for each other!
We will do an Informational Flyering on Monday April 14th at 6:30 am and 6:30 pm at the hospital employee entrance near the cafeteria. Please look for and respond to the text or Facebook notice to let us know which time you can attend.
Your Voice Is Needed: Strike Vote Coming Up
We are holding a membership meeting on Tuesday April 15th at 8:00am and 8:00pm at the Holiday Inn in Manahawkin. Our negotiation team will give an update on the progress, or lack of progress, at negotiations. We will have a discussion on how to support concerted actions up to and including a strike vote. Voting will open online after the 8pm meeting to decide our next steps in the fight for a fair contract that respects our work, our safety, and our ability to provide quality care. (Watch for an email with voting instructions coming soon.)
We need to send a message to management that is clear, strong and united. This vote is our opportunity to speak with one voice—to show that we stand together for safe staffing, fair wages, and the respect we deserve as nurses.
