Local 5030 2nd Quarter 2025 Member Update

Summer is here and time continues to fly by. Stay cool and hydrated as temperatures will be on the rise. Our annual summer picnic and cookout is coming July 21st, see information below. We continue to look for Reps on each unit and both Grievance Chairs will be holding a Rep meeting in the cafeteria in the next few weeks so look for that notice soon.

SUMMER UNION PICNIC & COOKOUT

MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND PLEASE JOIN US MONDAY, JULY 21ST, FROM 10:00AM TILL 3PM FOR FOOD AND DRINKS

THE PICNIC WILL BE OUT IN FRONT OF THE PALISADES HOSPITAL DOWN BY THE HUDSON RIVER. HPAE STATE OFFICERS ALONG WITH STATE POLITICANS WILL BE ON HAND.

EACH MEMBER WILL RECEIVE ONE NEW HPAE LOCAL 5030 JACKET. TO BE ELIGIBLE YOU MUST SIGN IN. IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED YOUR MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION YOU MUST DO SO PRIOR TO RECEIVING THE JACKET.

MAKE SURE TO JOIN US ON YOUR BREAK FOR GOOD FOOD, DRINKS AND FELLOWSHIP. WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING ALL OF OUR MEMBERS.

GRIEVANCES AND ARBITRATIONS

Per Article 8 of the CBA, a grievance is defined as a dispute arising out of the application or interpretation of any of the provisions of the Agreement or any Medical Center rule, regulation, or practice. This includes discipline. The grievance chairs, Azza Elsaid and Tony Ellis have been very successful in winning grievances filed on behalf of members, but you must let us know so that we can investigate to see if a grievance is warranted. We have 3 upcoming arbitrations: staffing, dietary and physical therapy.

SOMC LOCAL 5138 RATIFIES NEW CONTRACT

Our sister local at SOMC 5138 ratified a new contract on June 11 and a strike was averted at the last minute. They were able to get enforceable staffing ratios for critical care, labor & delivery, med/surg and Mancini 4. They were also able to push back on the merit raises and got an ACB for both 2025 & 2026. Congratulations to the local leaders, Anna, and Sybil for standing up for all HPAE members. Jersey Shore/HMH Local 5058 start their negotiations on June 27 and we will be there to support them.

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF FREE MONEY FOR REFERRALS

You can do your part if you know of anyone that is looking to become an employee at Palisades Medical Center. This is for all members of Local 5030 and this is in addition to the referral bonuses that are currently in the Contract. The referral bonus program of HMH expanded to include a list of “hot jobs” as follows:

  • Team members are eligible for $2,500 for the referral of candidates in environmental services, food services and patient transport positions, after their first 90 days with HMH
  • Team members are eligible for $3,000 for the referral of candidates in patient care technician, certified medical assistant, respiratory therapist, surgical technician, certified nursing assistant positions after their first 90 days with HMH.
  • Team members are eligible for $5,000 for the referral of registered nurses (minimum of two years’ experience required) and social workers, after their first 90 days with HMH
