Local 5058 Bargaining Update: Focused Discussions Underway

On Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday this week, we continued meeting with management to review and negotiate proposals. We remain committed to advancing the issues that matter most to our membership.

In addition to full-table negotiations, several small committee meetings have begun to address key priorities, including:

  • Work Schedules – There were productive discussions on proposals for fairer and more predictable work scheduling
  • Disciplinary Processes – Management has expressed openness to our proposal to include a just culture approach in our contract, aligning with our demand for fairness and consistency

Jill Hodge, HMH network VP of Security, gave a presentation on hospital safety. In response, the union strongly reiterated that more work is needed to keep nurses and everyone in the hospital safe. Our contract proposal includes metal detectors at all entrances, security posted in any department where someone is present who has attempted to seriously harm an employee, flagging of patient charts with a history of violent behavior, and additional security measures in the ED and psych.

We hope these discussions represent meaningful progress toward an agreement that addresses issues all of you have shared with us. We are still waiting for detailed responses to some of our most important proposals, including staffing and wages. We are expecting to meet for bargaining two days next week, and we will continue to keep you informed as negotiations continue.
