Local 5058 Bargaining Update, August 14, 2025
The bargaining team met with management on three days this week, and there was some progress made at the table. We reached agreements on a few proposals, including an emphasis on just culture, a 25-day time limit on issuing most disciplines, and a program for more flexible scheduling for our nurse educators.
Management still has not provided a detailed response to our staffing proposals. They did finally provide us with their economic proposals, including shift and weekend differentials, on-call, and wages. Their proposal included no change to the wage scale and raises of no more than 1% each year. We immediately rejected their insulting proposal, and we are maintaining our own wage proposal, which includes well-deserved raises that will make us competitive with other hospitals and recognize the incredibly difficult work we do as a level 1 trauma center.
The bargaining team emphasized the importance of staffing and workplace safety, and we are hoping management will come to the table next week prepared to have serious discussions on these issues.
