The new Trump administration is threatening the basic rights of citizens, immigrants and workers, as well as embracing the Republican agenda of repealing the Affordable Care Act and weakening Medicare and Medicaid. In response, HPAE, other unions, community organizations, and many other groups are responding by taking action to resist these initiatives.
Here are some of the actions which we support and urge you to participate in:
Don’t Take Our Health Care Rally
On Thursday, Republicans in Congress plan on ramming Trumpcare through the House of Representatives. Do you know what Thursday is? The 7th anniversary of the day the Affordable Care Act was signed into law. By every available metric, Trumpcare will make health care in America worse. It is a cruel and immoral piece of legislation. And the petty politicians who want to pass it are using a day that signified 22 million Americans gaining badly needed health insurance to take that care away from 24 million Americans over the next 10 years.
Join us on Thursday to rally to protect our care and tell our elected leaders “Don’t Take Our Health Care!”
Vigils to Save Our Healthcare
Republicans have started moving on their plans to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA), and cut funding for Medicare and Medicaid, with no plan to ensure that 30 million people nationwide – including 1 million here in New Jersey – can keep their health care coverage.
We’re taking action to try and stop this insanity! We’ll be holding candlelight vigils outside the Congressional offices of Congressmen Frelinghuysen, Lance, LoBiondo, MacArthur and Smith every Wednesday from 4:30 – 6:30pm.
Urge Senate Democrats to Filibuster Against Neil Gorsuch
Urge Senators Booker and Menendez and urge them to join Democrats like Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer to filibuster the stolen SCOTUS seat. If Judge Neil Gorsuch, is approved, it could threaten fundamental rights in America such as reproductive rights, worker’s right to organize, and immigrant rights for decades to come.
