After years of complaints related to the .9 staff nurse position, HPAE was recently advised by management that effective February 24th, the Hospital will begin converting .9 staff nurse positions to 1.0 positions as they become vacant. HPAE would’ve preferred the staff nurses forced into .9 positions during the departmental reorganizations over the past decade be made whole however management expressed a clear goal to eliminate the .9 staff nurse positions over time through attrition. As a result, priority will be given to those .9 staff nurses that apply for any 1.0 vacancies on their unit within the first five (5) business days and the process will be as follows:
- .9 staff nurse (intradepartmental nurse) must be currently employed on the unit/floor (e.g.: G-Blue, F-Green, I-Blue, etc.) where the vacancy resides.
- Intradepartmental staff nurse must apply for the posted vacancy within the first five (5) business days of posting (excludes weekends and holidays).
- Intradepartmental staff nurse who does not apply within the first five (5) business days of posting will be considered a general applicant.
- Intradepartmental staff nurse will be offered the position based on UH date of hire. Shift will not be taken into account.
