We continue to look for Reps on each floor, please see one of our leaders to sign up and get involved in your union!

Summer Union Picnic & Cookout

Please join us Monday, July 21st, from 10:00AM till 3PM for food and drinks. The picnic will be out in front of the Palisades Hospital down by the Hudson River. HPAE State Officers along with state politicians will be on hand.

Members will receive a new HPAE t-shirt. To be eligible you must sign in. If you have not completed a membership application, you must do so prior to receiving a t-shirt. Make sure to join us on your break for good food, drinks, and fellowship. We look forward to seeing all our members.

Labor/Management & Staffing Meeting

We hold our labor/management & staffing meetings on a bi-monthly basis so if you have issues that come up, please let us know so that we can put it on the agenda to be addressed with management at these meetings.

No Call/No Show

If it is necessary for you to be absent from work, you are required (per policy) to report to your supervisor, director of nursing, or the administrator at least three (3) hours prior to the start of your shift. You are not permitted to leave a message regarding an unscheduled absence. Do not leave a message with the receptionist. You must speak to a supervisor directly. Voicemail and text messages are not accepted. Failure to speak directly to a supervisor will result in the call of being considered a “no-call no show.”

Two (2) “no-call no-show” absences will result in termination.

Grievance Procedure

Per Article 8 of the CBA, a grievance is defined as a dispute arising out of the application or interpretation of any of the provisions of the Agreement. This includes discipline. We have filed a some grievances lately on discipline and have been successful in winning those grievances, but you must let us know so that we can investigate to see if a grievance is warranted.

Weingarten Rights

Weingarten Rights, established by the U.S. Supreme Court in NLRB v. J. Weingarten, Inc., grants unionized employees the right to request union representation during investigatory interviews that could lead to disciplinary actions. This means that if you reasonably believe the interview might result in discipline, you can ask for a union rep to be present. Read Word for Word to Your Supervisor, “if this discussion, meeting or telephone call could in any way be related to my being disciplined or terminated or affect any of my working conditions, I exercise my federal rights and hereby request that my union representative be present. Without their presence, I choose not to participate in this discussion or meeting.”
