Local 5131 September 2025 Union Update
We would like to formally invite you all to our winter membership dinner on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at the Grove at Centerton. We are so excited to have renowned speaker Donna Cardillo joining us for the evening! She is a motivational speaker who helps nurses find joy in their profession and balance between their home and work lives. She is not the typical speaker that is hired by hospitals with fluffy words that are supposed to make nurses feel better. She is a nurse herself and uses her decades of experience to bring humor and entertainment with her presentation. We hope you will join us!
We have had many people asking for copies of the new contract. Unfortunately, it is taking longer than anticipated, but we hope to have all edits and revisions done within the next couple of weeks so we can send it off to the printers. You will be notified as soon as we get them.
Reps are a vital part of our Union. Two of the most important roles of a Rep are to be with you when you meet with management and to be a liaison between the officers and members. If you are ever asked to meet with your manager, always ask if it involves something that can lead to disciplinary action. If the answer is yes, you have the right to tell them you would like a union Rep present. Management must give you an opportunity to find a rep. This is established under the Weingarten Rights (link below). Please reach out to any of the Reps if you have any questions or concerns in your department. We do not work in all locations, so it is difficult for us to be aware of issues without your help. If you do not know any Reps, the list is always on our webpage (link below).
Our Rep coordinator is Chanelle Thomas. Her number is listed at the top of the list. She is an excellent resource and will help direct you to a Rep for a meeting with management or whom to talk to about an issue in your unit. We are always looking to have more Reps join our team, please reach out if you are interested.
