Local 5089 UH Updates: NJ Workers’ Comp Benefits & UH Funding

Governor Murphy signed a new bill into law on Tuesday, September 15th which allows members that contracted CoVid-19 while working at UH are now eligible to claim Workers’ Comp benefits retroactive to March 9, 2020. If you tested positive and were out for more than the standard 14 days to recover, you should definitely contact your local union rep for more information or email dbaker@hpae.org.

HPAE is also encouraging our members to participate in the campaign to demand that the Governor ensure that UH is fully funded in the upcoming budget. Please sign our online letter petition here or contact your local congressional representative to express your concern. Also, we are asking members to participate in several other actions that will be taking place over the next few days. Please contact your local union reps for more information.

Cynthia McDougall, RN
