Notice of 2025 Nominations and Election of HPAE Local 5091 Officers

In accordance with the Constitution and Bylaws of HPAE Local 5091, the election of local union officers will take place by secret mail ballot. The Nominations and Election Committee is now accepting nominations for the officer positions listed below, all of whom may also serve as HPAE and AFT convention delegates. All members in good standing are eligible to run for office and to submit nominations.

POSITIONS TO BE FILLED:

• One (1) Vice President – RN Unit
• One (1) Treasurer

Note: The President, Vice-President for non-Nursing Professionals and the Secretary are elected in alternate years.

TERM OF OFFICE:

January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2027

NOMINATIONS PROCEDURE: 

A member in good standing may nominate another member in good standing to be a candidate for office by submitting a nomination form by the nomination deadline. The form must include the candidate’s signature accepting the nomination, including the last four digits of the candidate’s social security number as verification. Forms without the candidate signature and verification will not be accepted. Typed signatures will not be accepted. A member may only nominate one candidate for the same position, and a member may not be a candidate for more than one position. Members may self-nominate.

Completed forms must be returned to Local 5091 Nominations and Elections, P.O. Box 119, Emerson, New Jersey 07630 or emailed to [email protected]. Candidates are encouraged to confirm receipt of the nomination from before the deadline by emailing [email protected].

NOMINATIONS DEADLINE:

Nomination forms must be received by September 2, 2025, 5:00 pm. Forms received after this time will not be accepted. No exceptions.

ELECTION INFORMATION:

Candidates must abide by the HPAE local election rules, which can be viewed here: www.hpae.org/resources/electionrules. Ballots will be mailed to all members on September 8, 2025. An unopposed candidate shall be deemed elected and ballots for that position will not be mailed to members.

Candidates may submit campaign statements, which will be posted on the local webpage. Statements are due by September 4, 2025, 5:00 pm. Statements should be five hundred

(500) words or less and submitted in electronic form to [email protected]. A campaign photo may be submitted.

Electioneering on the following platforms or venues is strictly prohibited: Union’s Facebook or other social media platforms, Union bulletin boards, union premises, union meetings.

This does not bar candidates from campaigning on their own social media sites.

ELIGIBILITY:

Any HPAE Local 5091 member in good standing is eligible to run for office.

All elected candidates will attend an HPAE new officer training.
