Please be advised that nominations are now open for all officer positions of Local 5131. Only members in good standing may nominate or be nominated. This election will take place by secret mail ballot.
Management initially rejected our proposals for Professional Practice (Protections against Non-Nursing Duties, AI, Outsourcing, Mandatory Shift Changes, etc). We argued forcefully for our position, and we hope management will reconsider their position.
It's been a big year for our union! Together, we've fought off management deleting our PTO, won countless grievances, took a historic strike vote, and won one of the strongest Contracts in New Jersey!
Prior to the holiday, your union leadership met with hospital administration regarding our insurance benefits for the new year. Despite our binding contract, the administration is requesting to open it up to negotiate a new insurance plan.

On Tuesday, 11/25, we met with Management for our first negotiations session. We presented our petition, signed by a majority of members, and then presented our non-economic and minor economic proposals.
Nominations for Local 5091 Officer positions were closed on September 2. In accordance with the HPAE election rules, all unopposed candidates shall be deemed elected.
Nominations for Local 5089 Officer positions were closed on October 31, 2025. In accordance with the HPAE election rules, all unopposed candidates shall be deemed elected.
Management recently announced that they have decided to outsource all workers in the Bayonne Lab. Our Contract states that before any final decision on outsourcing, they must consult with us - they never did!
