Local 5142 Bargaining Update: Progress, But More Work Ahead
Because of all the solidarity you have shown through petitions, buttons, and your presence at bargaining sessions, the Hospital has finally responded with a comprehensive counter to our proposals, including economics. The counter is nowhere close to what we need to settle a strong contract, but it does mean that we can have substantive negotiations on the issues.
We will be presenting a counter to their proposal at our next bargaining session on Friday, May 15th. In the meantime, we will be holding Tele Town Hall Membership Meetings next Wednesday, May 13th to give you an update and discuss our next steps. There will be two meetings to accommodate schedules at 8:00am and 8:00pm. Be on the look out for instructions on how to join the meeting early next week.
Though this is a big step, we will certainly need more member actions as we push through to the finish line, so always listen out for ways we can put pressure on the hospital. With our continued solidarity, we are sure we will win a contract that honors our work as nurses.
