Local 5107 UMC Bargaining Update December 3, 202
Last night (12/2), your Bargaining Team met with Management for a second bargaining Session.
We reached tentative agreements on five minor issues:
- Including All Per-Diems in the union
- An additional 15-Minute paid break for RNs who work a 12-hour shift
- Extending the deadline to file a grievance from 5 days to 10 days
- Clarifying language regarding the Union Bulletin Board
- Notification
We made progress on several other issues, including:
- Discipline
- Layoff
- Military Leave
- Jury Duty
- Bereavement Leave
- Orientation
- Educational Assistance
- Reimbursement for Shoes and Pants
Management initially rejected our proposals for Professional Practice (Protections against Non-Nursing Duties, AI, Outsourcing, Mandatory Shift Changes, etc). We argued forcefully for our position, and we hope management will reconsider their position.
The next Bargaining Session is December 9 at 4:00 PM;https://aft.zoom.us/meeting/register/y2sAyW0uRlqMXf8jM_1yWA
Please RSVP to attend. You can join at any time and stay for as much or as little time as you like. Not only is it an excellent way to stay informed, but also shows management that they are negotiating with our entire Union, not just your entire bargaining team!
In solidarity,
