We are happy to announce that while we’re not out of the woods yet, management has informed us that they will not be implementing layoffs in January.
Yesterday (Jan 20), our bargaining team met with Management. We discussed Wages, Staffing, Differentials, Hours & Schedules, Holidays, and The HPAE Retiree Medical Trust.
Nominations for Local 5131 Officer positions were closed on January 5, 2026. In accordance with the HPAE election rules, all unopposed candidates shall be deemed elected.
Management increased their wage proposal to 2% per year minimum, with some people receiving significantly more than 2% in 2026. However, many experienced nurses would only receive the 2% under Management's proposal.

Management completely rejected our proposals to limit the number of residents a nurse can be assigned and to address issues with admissions and discharges.
