Inspira Bargaining Update, April 21, 2025

On April 21st, your negotiations teams spent another full day at the Glassboro Courtyard Marriott. This was our third negotiation session. To date, we have reached three tentative agreements (TAs), which you can find in the links below. The TAs have also been posted on the Local websites. To summarize the tentative agreements: the parties have agreed to update the entire Local 5142 contract to reflect that Salem Memorial Hospital is now Inspira Mannington; we have added previous memorandums of agreement into Article 2 of the 5621 contract, stipulating that Case Managers at Mullica Hill and RNs working in the Cardiac departments at Deptford Health Center are part of the Local; and we added reciprocity among all Inspira HPAE Locals to Article 35 Job Postings in all three contracts.

Negotiations thus far have focused entirely on union proposals; to date, management has not submitted proposals of their own. They have instead elected to discuss what the union has put forth and issue counterproposals. This means WE—the nurses who keep these hospitals running—are setting the tone. While things aren’t moving as quickly as we might like, we are making progress. As noted in our previous update, early negotiations are focused on language issues. We had robust discussions on Monday about several of our proposals.

We need your help to keep the heat on Inspira. On April 28th, we will be joining other HPAE Locals around the state for a coordinated Sticker Day action. We look forward to seeing all of you proudly wearing Safe Staffing stickers on the 28th! Be on the lookout, as well, for an email about getting a FREE Safe Staffing lawn sign! Remember: the 15 nurses at the table are a small percentage of our 1750 members. We need ALL OF YOU to join us in these actions if we are going to win safe staffing, competitive wages, and a GREAT new contract!
