Inspira Bargaining: Important Membership Meetings and Strike Authorization

Colleagues:

We are writing for two reasons: firstly, to let you know about upcoming membership meetings (which will include detailed bargaining updates) on May 20th and 21st; and secondly, to share additional information about strike authorization. It is CRITICALLY IMPORTANT that you attend at least one of these meetings! We will be providing more detailed information about the state of negotiations, the proposals still on the table, and next steps for strike authorization!

Membership meetings will take place as follows, and will be open to all members of HPAE’s Inspira Locals:

o Meeting ID: 841 7882 3431

o Passcode: 920033

As we get deeper into the negotiations process, we are getting a lot of questions about what striking means, what it looks like, and how it will affect us as individual workers. Last week, we hosted two Strike School training sessions to help clarify a lot of these questions. We know not everyone who wanted to be there was able to attend, so we are sharing the PowerPoint presentation and a Q&A document with all of you:

We will be holding an online strike authorization vote immediately following next week’s membership meetings, from May 21st-May 23rd. This is not a vote to immediately go on strike; this is simply a vote to authorize the Local Executive Boards to call a strike in the event that bargaining goes beyond our 5/31 contract expiration.

In asking you to authorize our leaders to call a strike, we are asking you to show Inspira that we are serious about our proposals. We are united as 1,750 proud union RNs in our demand for safe staffing and competitive wages, and we will not back down!

In solidarity,

Your Local 5131, 5621, and 5142 Bargaining Teams
