Updated: CarePoint, union reach agreement on contract for workers at two hospitals

From NJBIZ, July 1, 2015

CarePoint Health and the union representing 1,250 nurses and other health care workers at its Bayonne and Jersey City hospitals have reached a tentative agreement on a contract, the union said Wednesday.

The contract talks had been contentious, and members of the Health Professionals & Allied Employees had picketed two of CarePoint’s three Hudson County hospitals as recently as Monday.

The union said Wednesday in a news release that the proposed three-year agreement covering workers at Bayonne Medical Center and Christ Hospital in Jersey City includes wage increases, improvements in nurse staffing levels, limits on health insurance cost increases and more. The deal must still be voted on by workers at the two hospitals, whose current contract expired Tuesday.
