HPAE leaders and members participated in a community forum organized by Bergen Grass Roots Monday night at the Teaneck Public Libary to discuss the crucial decisions the Bergen County government will soon be making about the future of Bergen Regional Medical Center[BRMC] – New Jersey’s largest hospital.

HPAE Local 5091 represents a total of 500 RNs and non-nursing professional staff at the hospital.

HPAE Secretary-Treasurer Barbara Rosen was part of the panel which provided attendees with information and analysis about the decisions that lie ahead and what is at stake for Bergen County residents.

State Senator Loretta Weinberg was also on the panel. She said the county should move forward with the 11-member panel created by a law Governor Christie signed earlier this month — and Weinberg sponsored — to improve transparency and oversight at Bergen Regional.

The management contract under which the Center has been run for 19 years ends less than 5 months from now.  The County needs to decide not only who the new manager will be, but the Center’s scope of service, and whether changes need to be made with respect to administration, infrastructure and financial organization.
