RE: Announcement of Milly Silva as choice for Lieutenant Governor
The Health Professionals and Allied Employees (HPAE), the state’s largest union of Nurses and health care professionals in New Jersey, applauds Gubernatorial Candidate Senator Barbara Buono’s choice of Milly Silva as her running mate for Lieutenant Governor.
Silva is an experienced leader with a long track record of standing up for working families and workers rights. Silva is also a strong advocate for the rights of women in the workplace. Silva has fought to protect health care workers rights while fighting for standards to improve the quality of life for working women in the health care field.
Together in her role as Executive Vice President of SEIU 1199 in NJ Silva has worked collaboratively with HPAE to promote legislation for safe staffing of health care facilities, financial disclosure of for-profit health care institutions, protecting public workers health care and retirement benefits, and health and safety standards for health care workers.
HPAE has endorsed Senator Barbara Buono and we are proud to support Milly Silva’s candidacy for Lieutenant Governor.
