HPAE Responds to Consultant’s Report on Workplace Violence at BRMC

rosen2In testimony given to the Bergen County Industrial Authority today, health and safety expert Jonathan Rosen, MS CIH, identified some key omissions in a report prepared by Joint Commission Resources (JCR) on Bergen Regional Medical Center’s (BRMC’s) workplace violence prevention program. Rosen pointed out that the report failed to evaluate and summarize the extent and severity of workplace violence at BRMC.

In addition, according to Rosen, the JCR report did not reference the Joint Commission Standards or Best Practices. Failure to comply with these standards could lead to BRMC losing their accreditation or losing Medicare and Medicaid funding.

Finally, while the report documents many deficiencies, there is no guidance on how to proceed in prioritizing the deficiencies for remedial action.
