Local 5089 University Hospital bargaining update, January 12, 2018

On Wednesday, January 10th , the HPAE negotiating committee met with management for the second bargaining session. Both parties presented their initial proposals, which primarily addressed non-economic issues at this time.

HPAE presented proposals that addressed concerns expressed by our members such as staffing, health and safety issues, and stronger protections of our union rights.  On the other hand, management presented the following proposals:

·       Elimination of shift differential for those working 7a-7p

·       Elimination of combining (2)15 min breaks with lunch break

·       Changing the way overtime pay is calculated by only counting actual hours worked

The next bargaining session is scheduled for Monday, February 19th and we anticipate a productive session.  For more details on bargaining, please attend the membership meeting scheduled as follows:
