Local 5004 negotiations update, May 17

Thank you to all the members that came to the membership meeting on Tuesday.  You voted overwhelmingly to reject management’s offer and authorize the negotiating team to give a 10-day notice for concerted activity if necessary.

With your authority, we returned to the table today.  We let management know that you have demanded that we negotiate a contract that respects us as professional employees – addressing our need for Safe Staffing and Continuing Education.

Thank you to the members from the Peri-op, Critical Care and Specialty areas that came to negotiations today and let management know that the concerns we have raised at the bargaining table are experienced by you every day.

Late in the day, management came to the table and withdrew several of their most objectionable proposals and gave us feedback on many of our remaining proposals that we hope we can use to move toward a resolution.  We are still a long way from an agreement, but management clearly heard you!
