HPAE Statement on NJHA requiring its members to collect workplace COVID data

NEWS ITEM: Governor Murphy’s announcement that New Jersey Hospital Association will begin to collect healthcare worker data starting December 28, 2020

The following statement can be attributed to HPAE President Debbie White, RN:

“We are pleased to hear that the New Jersey Hospital Association has finally agreed to collect data on the number of healthcare workers who have contracted COVID. This is long overdue. Over the last nine months this information has been withheld from the public and government regulators.

“We are well into a second surge and collection of this information will begin to offer insight on how New Jersey can better protect its frontline healthcare workforce who have risked their lives every day during this pandemic. This is one step in the right direction, and we urge Governor Murphy to sign S.2384/A.4129 as quickly as possible.”
