Local 5089 and 5094 Solidarity Action Alert: 4/27 5:15PM All Units Respond With Unity

Solidarity Action Alert: Thursday, 4/27 5:15 pm – 6:15 pm University Hospital All Units Respond

Fellow HPAE Members, with our own HPAE Locals in negotiations with Rutgers for a year, and our contract campaigns at UH looming on the horizon, HPAE Members are called to Stand in Solidarity with our coworkers, and sisters and brothers, the Union-Strong Residents of SEIU-CIR who will be taking collective action on Thursday, 4/27 5:15 pm – 6:15 pm. Plan to support.

Expect, encourage, and acknowledge in clear and positive, celebratory energy Union-Strong residents rounding that will take place across the hospital as they assemble a massive “Unity Break” and walk out as a collective to rally at 5:45 pm in the Courtyard next to Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (NJMS) off of 12th street to demand a strong contract in their own negotiations with Rutgers.

HPAE members at Rutgers are fighting hard for strong contracts as are the residents of SEIU-CIR who while employed by Rutgers, are vital clinical team members to our rank and file here at University Hospital. We are one team across our coalition of Unions and this Thursday is an opportunity to Show Our Power.

Encourage residents you work alongside to participate in their Union action. When the residents round into your unit, show them your support by standing up, giving a thumbs up or applaud the team as they come through. If you are on a break or able to participate on your own time, join the rally and wear your HPAE red to show that you too are Union-Strong.

If you are not scheduled to work, or can join the action before starting your shift, join HPAE Union members and leaders at the rally to support.

The rally will be held on Thursday, April 27, at 5:45 pm – 6:30pm, in the NJMS courtyard near the hospital. Wear HPAE red to support our Coalition of Rutgers Unions brothers and sisters in CIR/SEIU and HPAE members at Rutgers who deserve strong HPAE contracts.

Our Union knows the power of our collective when we are united, with all our members do and deliver for our patients and our communities, we deserve respect and improvements in our own campaign for a strong contract ahead. Join us as we show a glimpse of the potential we can yield even in small acts, like wearing Union Red, being publicly supportive of our Union Power, and joining in Union Actions that are safe and effective in bringing the much-needed changes we all want to see for our future.

If you have questions about this action or need support related to an issue that you are facing at work, contact our organizer, Suzanne at SCollado@hpae.orgor (917) 588-1634 or, reach out to any of us, we are with you. Our unity makes us strong.

In Solidarity,

HPAE Locals 5089 and 5094 United at University Hospital
