New task force will seek proposals for Bergen medical center

Bergen County Executive Kathleen Donovan has appointed a seven-member task force to study the future of the county-owned Bergen Regional Medical Center in Paramus. Elizabeth Randall, a former freeholder and assemblywoman, will chair the panel, which is supposed to develop a request for proposals from health care companies.
Donovan said she expects the task force to examine all options, including the possible sale of the more than 1,000-bed hospital that is managed by a private operator under a 19-year lease that expires in March 2017….
…Others picked for the task force include Richard J. DeLuca of the hospital’s Community Oversight Board, Rabbi Neil Borowitz, a board member with the Bergen Regional Foundation, Robert Jones, president and CEO of the Children’s Aid and Family Services Inc. in Paramus, Barbara Rosen, an officer with the Health Professionals and Allied Employees union, Jeff Bader, a former Woodcliff Lake councilman and president of the Bi-State Motor Carriers, andBergen County Freeholder Maura DeNicola.
