Meeting Held Regarding PCU Issues

On February 5, 20 staff from PCU met with Local 5118 President Doris Bell and Local 5118 Secretary/Treasurer Patti Scharff to discuss some key issues facing the nurses: inadequate staffing levels, nurses in charge being asked to precept (violates the contract), nurses being taken off of orientation early to staff the unit, and no support or respect from management. At the meeting, the nurses identified various solutions to these problems. A meeting with nursing administration is the next step. It was a very positive meeting – we had a great turn out and the nurses left with a clear plan to resolve problems in the unit.
