Salem Medical Center RNs reach tentative Agreement on a contract with employer

Unionized nurses serving bravely on the COVID-19 pandemic frontline agree on a one-year contract following protracted negotiations.

HPAE Local 5142 members, who have been negotiating with Community Healthcare Associates, LLC, and its owner Bill Colgan, since December 2019, will vote over the next few days over whether to accept the terms their committee negotiated with the employer.

“We continue, as always, caring for our patients and serving the needs of our community,” HPAE Local 5142 President Karen Masusock, BSN, RN, said.

The nearly 100 registered nurses will start voting on ratifying the tentative agreement between 6 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 and 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2020. Details of the contract will be released after ratification is complete.
